3D PRINTING FOR EVEN MORE EFFICIENT CNC TOOLING
The 3D printing revolution has barely begun, yet the changes the technology is bringing to manufacturing are profound. Prototyping, in particular, is now far more cost-effective than ever, not to mention faster and more accurate.
Always on the lookout for technological innovations that improve efficiency, precision and value for our customers, Knight Carbide is pleased to offer 3D printing services for prototyping and modelling with the Mark Two 3D Printer from Markforged.
“With the Mark 2 connected directly to our AutoCAD Inventor 3D modeling program, it is no harder to make a part than to print a drawing.“
GET IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME WITH 3D-PRINTED PROTOTYPES
Our Mark Two has proven useful in another important way–product prototyping. Compared to a conventional blueprint, a 3D-printed model is a far more effective way to visualize a tool before putting it into production. This makes it easier to spot possible issues or missed opportunities and make the necessary adjustments before production begins. The potential savings in cost and time are incalculable.
3D PRINTING AT KNIGHT CARBIDE
Knight Carbide’s Markforged Mark Two 3D Printer uses CFR (Continuous Fiber Reinforcement) technology, powered by proprietary Eiger software, to build spot-on, functional concept models and rapid prototypes out of carbon fiber with a maximum part size of 12.6” x 5.2” x 6”.
Eiger software prepares CAD files for 3D printing and automatically generates soluble support geometries and pinpoints common user tasks to improve workflow.
Eiger provides a 3D view of the model, intuitive scaling, 3D-orientation viewing, real-time auto packing, sparse fill option to conserve material and thumbnails of STL files.
